Deflection is an Add Object tool in Experimental inside 3DPlotter V3 Studio. A sagging sheet dimpled by masses that slide downhill into it.
How to use Deflection
- Open Studio → Add Object → Experimental → Deflection
- A live Deflection element is added to the active layer
- Tune parameters in the element card in the object stack (live canvas preview)
- Export plot-ready G-code when satisfied
Menu path: Add Object → Experimental → Deflection
Key controls
- Outer Shape — round · Round, Ellipse, Square…
- Mesh Style — fabric · Fabric Rings, Grid, Hybrid
- Surface Width — 220mm (100–280mm step 1)
- Surface Height — 220mm (100–280mm step 1)
- Edge Clamp — 100% (40–140% step 1)
Tune outer shape, mesh style, surface width, surface height, and edge clamp in the inspector — open Studio to see all options.
Shuffle (in the element card) re-rolls: outerShape, meshMode, edgeClamp, stretchiness, friction, gravityStrength, massCount, contourCount, spokeCount, gridRows, gridColumns, mass1Weight, mass2Weight, mass3Weight, mass4Weight.
What you can plot with Deflection
- Pen-plotter art on A4/A3 beds (Bambu Lab, Prusa, Creality, and other pen-holder setups)
- Layered linework exported as G-code with pen-up travel
- Combined with other V3 objects and modifiers in the same document
Frequently asked questions
Where is Deflection in the menu?
Add Object → Experimental → Deflection
What can I adjust?
Start with the key controls above, then fine-tune everything else in the inspector inside Studio.
Is this non-destructive?
Objects live on layers as elements. You can edit parameters anytime; delete the element to remove it.
Does Deflection work with multi-pen plotting?
Yes. Use Pen Palette on a layer to split linework by color, or set per-path ink on modifiers like Offset.
Try Deflection
