Frequently Asked Questions

Will pen plotting damage my X2D?

No. Pen plotting only uses X/Y movement at low speeds, no heating, no extrusion. The pen holder is lightweight and movements are gentler than actual 3D printing.

What pens work with the X2D pen holder?

Our Sebas X2D holder fits standard pens and markers: Sakura Pigma Micron, Staedtler fineliners (Stabilo Point 88 recommended), Sharpies, gel pens, and most pens with 8–12mm diameter.

Can I still use my X2D for 3D printing?

Absolutely! The pen holder clips on and off easily. Switch between plotting and printing whenever you want — no permanent modifications needed.

What's the maximum plot size on X2D?

The P2S has a 256×256mm bed. With Sebas's dedicated pen plotter toolhead, the pen cannot reach within 35mm of the back, 29mm of the right, 9mm of the front — giving a maximum plot area of 227 × 212 mm. The left edge is fully usable.

Do I need to remove the pen before the printer homes?

No — X2D exports skip the finish pause by default. Attach the pen at the start pause, plot your design, and the printer homes automatically when the job completes.

Is the X2D pen holder the same as P2S?

No. The X2D uses a dedicated Sebas pen plotter toolhead with its own STL and Z-Draw preset (14 mm vs 17 mm on P2S). Use the X2D-specific holder and settings for best results.
